How do Alaskan Crab Fisherman only catch King Crab in King Crab season?

On Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch; How do they keep from catching the wrong crab in the wrong season.

Why don't they catch appilio crab in King crab season etc,?|||The further north you go in the world, the more simple the eco systems. For example, in the tropics there are lots of different types of animals. In the northern latitudes, there are more of the same type of animals.

Crab fishermen in fact do capture some of the wrong species of crab and other bottom creatures. They just trash them.

Also, King Crab is the dominant species in the prime fishing grounds. The fishermen want to make a lot of money, so they get really good at using the right baits and traps to lure their prize prey.|||cuz they like jumping into the net and gettin eatin|||different crab in different seasons......... maybe they hibernate

who knows|||they catch many types of crab but fish in ares that are primarily king or whatever crab are in season...the different crabs live at different depths...which means different fishing grounds...some wonder and get cought but are just thrown back to the ocean|||You would be suprised what comes in as By catch, If its outa season back they go! Good question though!

And if you think thats bad you ever wonder what gets tangled up in a Tuna net! well lets just say its not all charlie tuna!
