Is the big hunk of meat at the end of king crab leg edible? How is the best way to thaw them in 5hrs?

yes it is.


In fact, at the chinese restaurant, the waiter told me that he's amazed that most people (here in US) just discard that piece of meat...it has the most flavor and is usually a big chunk.





Soak them in cold water.|||Soaking them is the best way. the Coxae (That nub) has a lot of meat, however if the crab is not frozen properly (especially King Crab) it tastes terrible.|||That big hunk of meat at the end of a king crab let is definitely edible. I would thaw it for the 5 hrs in the fridge and to prepare I would crack the shell, hold the large end up and pour melted butter down the inside of the shell and place it on a cookie sheet. Bake it at 350潞 for about 30 minutes. Serve with melted butter. DO NOT MICROWAVE - that will toughen the legs.
