If I have 2 pounds of King Crab Legs, how long do I steam them until they are cooked, but not over done?

Or, if you know of a better way to cook them, tell me how.|||steaming(well seasoned of course )is always nice. im thinking 20-30mins for 2 pounds of king crabs .

Bon Appetit|||not sure, but call me when they are done.|||The legs and claws are already partly cooked before they are flash-frozen. I would steam a lb for 15 minutes if you start with totally frozen crab, less if partially defrosted. If you do 2lbs, then steam for 20 to 25 minutes if crab was frozen, less time if partially defrosted. No need to add salt to the 2 cups of water that you will use to make steam. Time starts when the crab goes into the steaming pot, usually a pasta noodle pot. I like my crab's natural slightly salty flavor but a small amount of drawn garlic butter is nice too! I like steamed corn on the cob to go with it or small red potatoes which go in 5 min before the crab. Enjoy!

BTW steaming live maine lobster for the weights indicated is done the same way.|||If you are a novice at this the fool proof way is to boil the crab legs. For two pounds of king, blue, or snow crab legs, start with a large stock pot 1/2 full of water, add 1/4 cup of reg table salt and 1/4 cup of white vinegar bring to a serious rolling boil, drop in the crab legs, let the water return to a good boil again and then time them for 5 min no more, remove from the heat and let sit covered for another 10 min to absorb any spices you may have added. you can add some mild spices such as a generic crab boil or con cot your own it is all good, don't forget to separate the melted butter before serving. the vinegar will not flavor the boil at all but what it will do is make the meat allot easier to separate from the shell.
